How the world has changed…
Somedays I take for granted just how far we as a technological society have come in such a (relatively) short amount of time; today is one of those touch-stone days, when it just hits home.
Today, I am fortunate enough to be attending my grandfather’s 100th birthday, and as he has watched me monitor CrashPlan PRO installations and manage numerous servers from his GaspĂ©, QC farmhouse, there is a lot of head shaking and amazement. “How can you be working in Toronto, when you’re sitting right here?”
What will I be shaking my head at in 20, 30 or maybe 40 years? Will the changes be as dramatic as the evolution of horse-drawn buggies to self-parking cars, or from morse code based telegrams to remote server work from a 3G-equipped iPad?
Thanks, Bampa - I’m lucky to have you in my life, and I love the stories you vividly continue to share.
